This tutorial assumes you are familiar with your version of PSP and know where your tools are located. Workspaces can differ, therefore the screenshots and directions for the location of the tools used may not be accurate in your workspace. If you have problems finding a particular tool, use the program's help file and type the tool name into the "find" window. Be sure you read my TOU before working this tutorial. Supplies Needed: These

(free) Paint Shop Pro Let's get to creating! This tutorial is long. Save often. Open the cornerding.psp and the V~FirstBloomredrose.tub files in PSP and minimize for now. Open the refinedrose_alpha.psp file. Go to Window/Duplicate (or Shift + D) and close the original for safe keeping.
First, lets get our foreground/background set up. Set the "Foreground and Stroke
Properties" (a) to the multi-red gradient, using these settings. Angle
220; Repeat 0; Style Radius. Set the "Background and Fill Properties" (b) to the gold foil pattern using these settings. Set the "Foreground and Stroke" Color (c) to white. Ok. Now we can play. On the layer palette, right click on "Raster 1" layer and rename "Back". Flood fill with the gradient. Go to Effects/Plugins/Funhouse/Quantum Tile. Uncertainty = 17; Tiles = 6. Go to Effects/Plugins/Funhouse/Radial Moirror. Moirgnitude = 65. Add a layer and name it "Strips". Go to Selections/Load Selection From alpha channel. Load Selection #1. Flood fill the selection with the gold foil pattern. Go to Selections/Modify/Contract and contract by 1. Change gradient settings to Style = Linear; Angle = 90. Flood fill with the gradient. Deselect (Ctrl + D). Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow. Set Horizontal & Vertical to 1; Opacity to 100; Blur 5; Color Black. Repeat drop shadow changing the horizontal & vertical to -1. Add a new layer and name it "Right". Go to Selections/Load Selection From alpha channel. Load Selection #2. Flood fill the selection with the gold foil pattern. Go to Selections/Modify/Contract and contract by 1. Hit the delete key. Keep selected and add a new layer, naming it"Mute". Flood fill with white. Lower the opacity to 50. Deselect. (Ctrl + D) Add a new layer and name it "Left". Go to Selections/Load selection from alpha channel and load selection #3. Flood fill with the gold foil pattern. Go to Selections/Modify/Contract and contract by 1. Hit the delete key. Deselect. Restore the V~FirstBloomredrose.tub and go to Edit/Copy (or Ctrl +C) Minimize the tub. Make sure that your "Left" layer is still active in the layer pallete. Go to Edit/Paste/Paste as a new layer (or Ctrl + L). Rename this new layer "Blur". Go to Effects/Blur/Gaussian Blur and set the Radius to 20. Lower the opacity of the "Blur" layer to 70. Go to Edit/Paste/Paste as a new layer again. (Or ctrl + L). Rename this layer "Rose". Go to Image/Resize. Resize this layer 80% and make sure that it is set Resample = Bicubic and Resize all Layers is NOT checked.
Add a new layer, naming it "Frame". Go to Selections/Select All (or Ctrl + A). Go to Selections/Modify/Contract. Contract by 6. Go to Selections/Invert. Flood fill the selection with the gold foil pattern. Deselect. Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow. Set Horizontal & Vertical to -1; Opacity = 100; Blur =5; Color = Black. Repeat drop shadow, changing the Horizontal & Vertical to 1. Restore the cornerding1.psp image. Go to Edit/Copy. Minimize. Make certain your "Frame" layer is active in the layer palette. Go to Edit/Paste/Paste As a new layer. Rename the new layer "Ding". Use the mover tool and place the ding in the upper left corner.
Right click on the "Ding" layer in the layer palette & duplicate. Go to Image/Mirror. Right click on the "Copy of Ding" layer in the layer pallete & duplicate. Go to Image/Flip. Right click on the "Copy (2) of Ding" layer in the layer pallete & duplicate. Go to Image/Mirror. Save as a PSP file. ***TIP ALERT*** Before doing a final save, you can go to Image ->Image Information and click on the "Creator Information" tab. In the description field, add the tutorial url (and other info, such as font used). Then save as a psp file. That information is saved along with the image. The next time you say (to yourself, of course...) "I wish I could remember where that tut is, you will have the information available in the image itself. Cool, huh? Add text and effects and
export as a jpg. Now go show it off! :)
